Happy Hour, Happy Times

It was last Thursday and I was looking forward to the end of my work week plus I was going to meet up with some great friends for Happy Hour after work. So... For this outfit post all I knew was that I wanted to wear this leopard print infinity scarf plus I was in no mood to wear a high heeled pumps. In comes my Brogues from Boden! I'm in Love :-) These pair came with two laces (one brown and the other orange).

* Loving my Stylish friend's Kate Spade bag. Reminded me that I don't think I have a red bag. Hmm :-)

*I pigged out. Gotta try their Steak Tacos!! Yum!

Preppy Meets Paisley

Don't you just love when you put things together that you would never think would work and viola! Its perfect :-) Well that's how I felt about this outfit I put together one morning in a rush for work. As I've mentioned in an earlier post, whenever Gap has it's 30% off family and friends sale that's when I reach for blazers. Especially blazers that add color to my closet. And since I had no idea what shoes to wear with this combination I reached for my handy dandy open-toe nude pumps. It seem to me that finding the perfect shade and price for nude pumps can be daunting. A girlfriend, spotted these at Nordstrom Rack for a great price. I owe many thanks to a Chanda , I've worn it numerous times.

Opened toe Booties and Patterned Skirt

Ahh, October... my birthday month and also when I truly enjoy living in Houston. Here's to perfect weathers in Houston! What a great time to wear these open-toe booties I got from DSW. Lucky for me I used  my rewards points plus a birthday coupon to nab these babies:-) I wore them in my last post and I've worn them quite a few times since I got them two weeks ago... ha!

Rocker chic - Studded Leather Vest

When I see this vest, I imagine myself riding off into the sunset in a Harley. Very cliche I know but that's really what I imagine. The feeling of sexy, edgy and empowerment sums it up for me.

*I took no chances when I saw this vest for 50% off on the sale Rack at Miss Selfridges. And the top was from Langford Market during a BOGO 1/2 off sale.

I came, I saw, I conquered.

The 10 miles for Texas Race is over and I am happy to say that I completed the race. Phew... Thank God! This race was a testament to how far I've come with my fitness, I remember when I could barely run 1/2 a mile!

*Yes... I wore red lippies. I figured why not?!... Stila Liquid lasting lip Stain in Fiery 01.

*The 6 minute mile start. Wishful thinking :-)

*Could probably swing 11minute start?... nah!

*Yep... That's me!!! 12minute mile. Nothing to sneeze at!... Kuddos to me!

*Get Set! Ready! GO!

*After the race a much needed spa time.... :-)

Glad to have this race over. I can gladly say: I came, I saw, I conquered.

My Instagram Life @mywalletmystyle

Happy Friday! Its been a great week but glad the weekend is here. I'm most excited and nervous about the 10 for Texas 10-mile Race tomorrow morning... yikes! Well.... I believe I am as prepared as I can ever be considering I only started increasing my distance within the past couple of weeks up to  8.8miles. After the race I plan to have a much needed deep tissue massage and rest.

For today's post I thought I'd share with you my recent Instagram shots.

1.        What I call: Confessions in a Marshalls fitting Room. I was super happy to walk away with that fringe leather jacket for $39! What a steal. Sadly the skirt stayed behind.
2.       I think I spent a good 30mins in the dressing room of Marshalls that day. It’s always the case isn't it?  Pile up a load of clothes but end up getting one thing.
3.   Yes....8.89miles! That's the furthest I've ever run.

4.  The Fish Restaurant in Houston. I asked the waiter what was his favorite sushi roll and he told me it was the "Wash your butt" roll which so happened to be off the menu. Yep…that's what he said... don't ask :-) Anyway it was really good! I love anything spicy.
5.  Morning Selfie featuring Sephora's lipstick - Rouge. Love that brand!

6.  Great travel mug made by Trudeau - This particular style has push open/close knob which enables the best spill proof I've ever seen and is well insulated. I literally put this mug filled with coffee in my handbag most mornings when out of the car and not one drop has spilled!
7.  My little rum of Don Q from a girl’s trip to Puerto Rico earlier this year. Nice little surprised when I found it hidden in the kitchen cabinet.... shhh!
8.  DSW rewards + birthday coupon = Beautiful open-toed booties
9.  Bloggers Do it Better Sweatshirt arrived in the mail
10.  Yearning for another trip. Conde Nast: My cure for the travel bug.
11.  What I'm known best for cooking at home: Coconut curry fried rice with shrimp... YUM!
12.  Celebrating a co-workers birthday with mini cupcakes from Gigi's cupcakes. I decided to use that as my office view versus flowers…..Off course that view only lasted 2minutes :-)

13.  Oops... Not sure why my booties showed up again :-)
14.  LOVE my Boden heeledBrogue. I chose to switch the laces to an orange color.
15.  Lunch at Nordstrom's Bistro N. Great food! and very convenient.
16.  Argh… The Wash your butt roll showed up twice!

Oh well... that's it for now. Don't forget to keep in touch with me via Instagram @mywalletmystyle.

Green Envy: Sack Sheath dress + Iridescent Statement Necklace

I wore this dress two weekends ago for my brother in-law's pre wedding party.
I must admit I was a bit nervous about purchasing this Vince Camuto Sack Sheath dress online. Reason for this is simple...the words 'sack' and 'sheath'. Sheath dresses have not always worked out well for me in the past especially with what I call a set of voluptuous thighs :-) I thought to myself ... well certainly a "sack" sheath dress will look terrible... right? Well the green color on this dress drew me in and the price was hard to resist. So I took a gamble and I must say it was worth it. Every now and then I purchase those items that are a big mistake. But this one turned out to be an absolute stunner. Very simple and chic! I thought the best way to show it off was with a statement necklace. I love this iridescent necklace as it allowed me to pair it with any other color of my choosing. In this case I chose gold/bronze with the clutch shoes and vintage bracelet. Yes... I know, I know! it seems I'm a sucker for gold as that's the color I tend to gravitate towards more often. I decided to go with MAC lipstick - Viva Glam Gaga, a perfect way to pull in the pink color.
I was thinking of another way to style this dress and I thought an alternative is to choose this metallic green shoes (listed below) and introducing a new color with the clutch. The styling options are limitless with this dress.
What item have you purchased (outfit or accessories) that was a pleasant surprise when you got it in the mail? I'd love to hear all about it :-)
